Crafting Harmony with Local Stone and Savannah Tones
At Villa Angaza, our design philosophy is rooted in celebrating local craftsmanship and advancing sustainable progress. With the foundation already cast, we are now turning our attention to the next phase: constructing the ground floor walling with Naivasha’s indigenous yellow stone. This material choice is intentional—imbuing the villa with an authentic regional character while minimizing the embodied energy associated with long-distance transport.
One of the most compelling aspects of using the yellow stone is its natural harmony with the surrounding landscape. The warm hues of the stone blend seamlessly with the savannah vegetation and earthy tones of the local environment, creating a visual dialogue that honors the natural beauty of the region. This interplay of color and texture not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of Villa Angaza but also deepens its connection to the land.
Each stone is carefully hand dressed by local artisans, a method that not only preserves the natural texture and heritage of the stone but also generates valuable employment within the community, all while maintaining a low environmental footprint. Complementing this approach, water tanks have been installed and connected to a borehole to ensure a reliable water supply for the plots, and custom fencing is being crafted to meet our clients’ specific requests.
This project embodies our commitment to community, sustainability, and meticulous design. Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to discover how to create a space that harmonizes with both the land and its people.
