Design
Jiwe, a residence designed for the serene neighborhood of Karen, Kenya, embodies a harmonious fusion of rustic modern luxury and timeless elegance.
Featuring three gables, Jiwe showcases clean lines and 1:3 proportions that contribute to its overall architectural composition, creating a sense of balance and sophistication.
Large openings adorn the façade, inviting abundant natural light into the interior spaces and establishing a strong connection between indoor and outdoor Karen environment.
Outdoor Living
The rear deck at Jiwe serves as a seamless extension of the lounge, dining area, and guest bedroom, providing a captivating outdoor environment for relaxation and socializing. This layout promotes a sense of continuity and allows for effortless indoor-outdoor flow.
A firepit on the side serves as a social node providing both warmth and a space for conversation during the cooler evenings.
The pitched roof, adorned in shades of beige and gray, adds a touch of sophistication to the overall design. The masonry construction, predominantly composed of stone, not only adds visual appeal but also ensures durability and a connection to nature.
“Jiwe pays homage to the cottagecore movement, celebrating the simplicity and coziness of countryside living while incorporating contemporary design principles. This fusion results in a refined elegance that resonates throughout the house.”
